Before contacting support

To help us resolve your issue quickly, please include:

  • macOS version
  • Inklet version
  • AI provider being used
  • Whether the issue happens in all apps or only one app
  • Any error message shown in Inklet

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to resolve them.

Accessibility permission

Inklet needs Accessibility permission to return focus to the previous app and insert text. Go to System Settings, Privacy and Security, Accessibility and ensure Inklet is enabled. If Inklet appears but is not working, try removing and re-adding it.

Input Monitoring permission

Input Monitoring is required to detect the global voice shortcut. Go to System Settings, Privacy and Security, Input Monitoring and enable Inklet. Restart Inklet after making changes.

Microphone permission

Microphone access is needed for voice dictation. Go to System Settings, Privacy and Security, Microphone and enable Inklet. If you do not use voice dictation, you can skip this permission.

API key or provider errors

If you see authentication or API errors, verify your API key is correct and has sufficient credits or quota. Check that you have selected the right provider and model combination. Some providers require specific model names.

Text insertion or clipboard issues

If text is not being inserted correctly, ensure Accessibility permission is granted. Some apps may have restrictions on programmatic text insertion. Try using a different app to see if the issue is app-specific. Inklet temporarily uses the clipboard for insertion and attempts to restore its previous contents.

Important

Never send private API keys in support emails. If you need to share configuration details, describe your setup without including the actual key values.
