Changelog
What changed in each release. From 2.0, Inklet also shows the highlights once after you update, and Changelog in the menu bar menu lists them any time.
Inklet 2.1.0
October 27, 2026 · build 36Hear text without an API key, cleaner results, a selection bar that stays out of your way, and an opt-in beta channel.
Pronounce with the system voice
Pronounce can read text with the macOS system voice, offline and free. New installs and setups without an OpenAI key use it right away; OpenAI voices are still available in Settings › AI Models.
Plain text results
Rewrites, translations and summaries come back as plain text, without stray Markdown symbols like ** or #. Markdown your own text already uses is kept.
A calmer selection bar
Drag the selection bar out of the way, and typing with Shift no longer opens it; selecting with the mouse or Shift and the arrow keys still does. The translation panel fits its text.
Beta updates
Turn on Beta updates in Settings › General to be offered beta versions with new features first. Turning it off waits for the next stable release.
Fixes
Settings no longer flashes when Inklet inserts text.
Inklet 2.0.0
October 26, 2026 · build 35Write and dictate on your Mac without an API key, in a calmer design that speaks your language.
Built-in local models
Choose Built-in to run Gemma 4 E4B or Qwen3.5 4B on your Mac with a bundled llama.cpp engine. No API key, no account, and your text stays on your Mac. Apple silicon only.
Ollama and LM Studio
Already run a local model? Choose Ollama or LM Studio as the provider and Inklet lists your models.
More cloud providers
Write and translate with Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, Mistral, OpenRouter and more, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. API keys are stored locally, one per provider.
Dictation on your Mac
Live Dictation can recognize speech on your Mac with Qwen3-ASR, in 30 languages and Chinese mixed with English. Your voice never leaves your Mac. OpenAI realtime transcription is still available.
Welcome guide
A short guide sets up permissions, the writing model, the microphone and shortcuts, introduces the selection bar, and downloads the recommended model in the background. Reopen it any time from the menu bar.
AI Models settings
One Settings page chooses the engine for writing, translation and dictation, and holds the API keys they share.
Quiet action bar
The writing popover shows only the actions you need. Hold ⌘ to see every shortcut at once.
Your own selection menu
Choose which buttons the selection menu shows and in what order. Translate, Pronounce and any prompt mode can be a button; extras go under More.
Prompts in your language
Built-in prompt modes work in all ten interface languages. A new Writing Language setting chooses the language your rewrites come out in, and a new mode translates text into your own language.
Ink & Paper design
The writing popover, selection panel and Settings have a quieter, more native design that follows your system accent color in light and dark mode.
Longer texts, clear limits
Writing requests are no longer capped at a short length, and Inklet tells you when a reply was cut off or your text is too long for the model.
What's New and Changelog
After an update, Inklet shows what changed once, without taking focus. Changelog in the menu bar menu lists every release.
Inklet 1.1.12
September 12, 2026 · build 16Selection translation, realtime dictation and local History.
Selection translation and pronunciation
Translate selected text, play the original or the translation, customize the translation prompt, voice and speed, and resize translation windows that remember their size.
Realtime dictation in Writing
Hold the dictation shortcut (Right Option by default) to stream text into the source editor, at the caret or over a selection. Release to finish; Escape cancels and restores the draft.
Improved writing workflow
A mode picker with fuzzy search, keyboard navigation and a remembered selection, plus better editor navigation, caret scrolling and undo.
Local History
Review successful writing and selection results, copy results or clear History. Consecutive duplicates are collapsed.
Update checks
Manual and daily update checks. Notices wait while you are busy; downloading and installing stay manual.
Reliability and privacy
One shared Accessibility selection path replaces browser-specific access, so browser Automation is no longer needed, and simulated copy is off by default.
Signed and notarized
Apple-notarized DMGs on GitHub Releases, with a verifying install script.
